The invention relates to a power supply management method for an electronic control unit of a motor vehicle and a corresponding power supply management system. An electronic control unit has a main power supply and a standby power supply. The power supply management method is based on an automobile open system architecture. In the power management method, if it is desired that the electronic control unit stops working, a shutdown operation is performed and the main power supply is shut down; in the shutdown operation, a backup mode in which the electronic control unit is maintained in a backupstate with a backup power source and wake-up source detection is performed at a determined polling period, and in the case where a wake-up source is detected, the electronic control unit is waken upcan be selected.
