An airbag hydraulic type overwinding accident passenger safety protection device for a vertical shaft hoist comprises a top board, a hydraulic cylinder, an electro-magnetic proportional overflow valve, a gas generating agent airbag, a winder, a safety rope, a safety belt, a displacement sensor, a speed sensor and a signal processor, wherein the top board is arranged above the inner wall of a cage; the hydraulic cylinder and the gas generating agent airbag are arranged below the top board; the hydraulic cylinder is connected with the electro-magnetic proportional overflow valve; a buffer strip of the winder is connected to a piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder; the lower portion of the winder is connected with the safety rope; the other end of the safety rope is connected to a safety belt worn by a miner. The mode of directly protecting the miner is adopted, the centrifugal clutch type winder locks the buffer strip when the miner rushes upwards and then falls back, the head of the miner is prevented from impacting the top of the inner wall of the cage when the miner upwards rushes during high-speed winding through the gas generating agent airbag, the electro-magnetic proportional overflow valve controls a small cavity of the hydraulic cylinder for backpressure oil leakage to provide buffer force, and the miner can be effectively prevented from being injured when the overwinding accident happens.
