The invention provides a method and device for controlling a vehicle control unit in an ECP system to safely exit. The method specifically comprises the steps that the current train pipe pressure reduction amount of a train is detected when a control instruction of existing an ECP mode is received; a target vehicle brake cylinder pressure value is calculated according to the train pipe pressure reduction amount and the corresponding relationship of preset train pipe pressure reduction amount and a vehicle brake cylinder pressure value; a current vehicle brake cylinder pressure value of the train is regulated to the target vehicle brake cylinder pressure value; the vehicle control unit exits the ECP mode when the current vehicle brake cylinder pressure value of the train is regulated to the target vehicle brake cylinder pressure value. According to the method and device for controlling the vehicle control unit in the ECP system to safely exit, the vehicle control unit is controlled to efficiently and safely exit the ECP mode on the premise of ensuring the operation safety and operation efficiency of the train.
