The invention discloses an escalator control device for controlling the operation of an escalator; when the escalator is located in high load higher than a preset load threshold, a frequency converter controls the communication between a first working frequency contactor (K24-1) and a second working frequency contactor (K24-2) and the disconnection between a first variable frequency contactor (K25-1) and a second variable frequency contactor (K25-2), so that a first motor (1) and a second motor (2) are both directly driven by a working frequency power supply; when the escalator is located in low load lower than the preset load threshold, the frequency converter controls the communication of the first variable frequency contactor (K25-1) and the disconnection of the first working frequency contactor (K24-1) to drive the first motor (1), and controls the communication of the second variable frequency contactor (K25-2) and the disconnection of the second working frequency contactor (K24-2); and a mechanism is used for enabling the second motor (2) to locate a free rotating state.
