The invention relates to an escalator step unit (10) for an escalator device (1), comprising a plurality of such step units provided for endless guidance in the escalator device, the escalator step unit having a vertical plate and a footboard, wherein the vertical plate and the footboard are mutually supported by at least one structurally rigid support section, and wherein the step lower structure of the escalator step unit has at least one structurally rigid support section located below the footboard and at least one structurally rigid support section located on the vertical plate. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of the escalator step unit (s) in an escalator device and to an escalator device correspondingly equipped with such an escalator step unit.
