The invention discloses an electric vehicle and a speed reduction box thereof. The speed reduction box comprises a box body, wherein a driven bevel gear, a tooth shaft and a differential assembly are mounted in the box body; an input shaft is mounted at the upper part of the box body through a conical bearing A, a conical bearing B and a bearing frame; the upper end of the input shaft is connected with an output shaft of a driving motor; a driving bevel tooth part is arranged at the lower end of the input shaft and extends into the box body so as to be meshed with the driven bevel gear for transmission; the driven bevel gear is fixedly connected to the tooth shaft in a sleeving manner; the two ends of the tooth shaft are respectively mounted in the box body through a conical bearing C and a bearing pedestal; a gear part is arranged on the tooth shaft and is meshed with a bull wheel on the differential assembly for transmission; the axial direction of the input shaft is perpendicular to that of the tooth shaft; the axial direction of the tooth shaft is parallel to that of an output half shaft of the differential assembly; the input shaft is positioned above the tooth shaft. According to the electric vehicle and the speed reduction box thereof, by adoption of vertical type arrangement of the driving motor, the space utilization of the electric vehicle can be improved.
