An undercarriage track joint assembly (100) includes a first link (110a) having a first, larger diameter bore at a first end (140a) and a second, smaller diameter bore at a second, opposite end (150a), and a second link (110b) having a first, larger diameter bore at a first end (140b) and a second, smaller diameter bore at a second, opposite end (150b). A bushing (157) extends between the first and second links (110a, 110b) and is positioned at least partially within the first, larger diameter bores of the first and second links (110a, 110b). A pin (120) is positioned coaxially inside a central axial bore through the bushing (157), extending between the first and second links (110a, 110b), and positioned at least partially within the second, smaller diameter bores of the first and second links. The pin (120) is coated with an amorphous diamond-like carbon (a-DLC) coating (206, 306) over at least a portion of an outer diameter surface of the pin (120), the coating (206, 306) providing a contact layer between the outer diameter surface of the pin (120) and an inner diameter surface of the bore through the bushing (157).
