Autopedestrian accidents, one of most important factors in motor vehicle deaths and injuries, were studied using 38 anthropometric dummies which were impacted under auto-pedestrian exposure conditions; under study were -- pedestrian blow by striking vehicle and pedestrian's body gyrations; displacements and pavement contacts varying with size and speed of impacting vehicle; portion of front-end contacting pedestrian; direction pedestrian was facing when impacted; pedestrian height, and his walking or standing postures; observations provided data of considerable value in accident reconstruction.
