2 kinds of problems are posed -- accuracy and safety; accuracy must be such as to necessitate no major path adjustment in transition, which leads to definition of guidance; safety will be obtained by giving pilot sufficient information to detect breakdowns and regain control by giving up approach; safeties, which are called 'internal' and 'external', make it possible to detect 'dynamic' and ' static' breakdowns.
