Filament-wound, continuous cross-section, aircraft tire is discussed; requirements for improved tires, and advantages and potential of new design are discussed; results of qualification, dynamometer tests of military tire specification indicate that filament-wound tire of equal strength weighs 15% less than conventional tire; discussions concerning use of automation methods, advanced tire materials, and possible spin-off applications.
