Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANETs) has gained tremendous research interest in both academic and industrial domains. As a result of networking technologies and the unexpected rise in smart numeral vehicles, conventional VANETs face many methodological disputes in employment and managing due to lesser flexibleness, meager intelligence, scalability, and mainly flat connectivity. To conquer the mentioned concerns and formulate the journey entertaining, invulnerable, and stressfree, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) must initiate advanced VANETs for safer road transportation. Currently, more and more vehicles outfit with sensors with wireless communication potentials. These approaches amplify numerous possibilities for powerful and promising life‐changing appliances on security, well‐organized traffic administration on public roads, comfort, and entertainment for drivers when they on a journey. VANET consists of high mobility nodes that regularly change their dynamic positions; moreover, the data distribution from these nodes brings new disputes for researchers in planning and implementation. Hence, efficient clustering data distribution‐based VANET approaches, along with their implementation challenges, are discussed. Employing Software‐Defined‐Network (SDN) to VANET might improve the efficiency of the network. One of the confronts for allied vehicles is making sure that information sends across the set‐up is safe and sound, or else multiple attacks can happen. Still, trust and reputation are tough to accomplish through conventional cryptographic techniques. This chapter briefly discusses the background of VANETs and their vision, location technologies, SDN‐VANET methodologies, and trust management systems. Moreover, we also present advanced cloud computing strategies that satisfy the requirements in VANETs, then finally, we conclude the chapter with open issues and research directions.
