The life span of an Electric Vehicle (EV) battery has a very important role in broader scale EV deployment. In this paper, we have proposed a Super‐Conducting Magnetic Energy Storing (SMES) system in the quest to regulate system voltages during the charging of an EV, which enhances battery life, as well as increases the EV's charging efficiency in the smart grid (SG). To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed SMES based voltage regulation method during sever load fluctuations and under voltage transients and major faults, a competitive analysis has been carried out. The results analysis shows that the proposed SMES based voltage regulation system exhibits significant voltage compensating capability during abrupt voltage drops on the main grid. This method stabilizes the system voltages, improves power quality, and efficiently charge EVs.
