Fault‐injection technology can be classified in terms of realization as follows: simulated fault‐injection; hardware fault‐injection; software fault‐injection; physical fault‐injection; and mixed fault‐injection. Currently, significant accomplishments in fault‐injection research are being made a variety of countries, and various fault‐injection technologies have many representative fault‐injection tools. Typical tools based on heavy ion radiation fault‐injection include the FIST, developed by Chalmers Technology University, Sweden. The overall fault‐injection system, in terms of function, consists of four modules: bus data intercept module; fault trigger control and injection module; attribute control and communication module; and upper computer parameter injection and display software module. The fault trigger control and injection module is the core of the whole fault‐injection system. Currently, fault‐injection plays an increasingly critical role in the fault‐tolerant system reliability testing field, and research efforts are constantly expanding. Research into fault‐injection technology has the following development aspects, such as fault‐injection tool research, and fault model theoretical research.
