In order to contribute to the mission of surveillance and law enforcement in marine pollution, the French Customs have two dedicated aircraft for remote sensing of marine pollution. These air assets are in charge of collecting surface information with their airborne remote sensing tools. The two dedicated aircraft for remote sensing of marine pollution are: a Reims‐Aviation F406 POLMAR III and a Reims‐Aviation F406 POLMAR II. French Customs are developing a new maritime patrol KA350ER‐FC aircraft with conventional surveillance systems (panoramic OM400 Radar and infrared multi‐spectral camera) and with a side‐looking airborne radar (SLAR) and a scanner (infrared/UV and visible optical) for remote sensing of marine pollution. The SLAR coverage is efficient between 2 Nm and 20 Nm (width depending on the flight height/level).
