Since the composite materials possess attractive properties, they are used in different applications such as automobiles, coating, aerospace, etc. The biologically motivated self‐healing composite materials are also established to repair the cracks propagated as a result of mechanical maintenance. These materials are designed on the basis of two approaches. They are (a) discharge of smart self‐healing agents towards the generated damage and (b) alterable cross linking networks. This chapter deals with a detailed study on self‐healing smart composite materials and its different self‐healing mechanisms.
