This chapter considers methods to modify loads which either have been measured or calculated. It identifies essentially three types of reasons for load editing, namely data correction, acceleration of rig tests or numerical simulation, and adjustment in view of specific tasks such as filtering out high frequent excitations or extrapolation to more severe events. The chapter presents methods for cleaning the data prior to analysis and describes the time domain editing methods that concentrate on fatigue oriented applications. The section on load editing in the rainflow domain starts with two technical methods, namely re‐scaling and superposition of rainflow matrices. Finally, the chapter describes the generation of time signals for rig testing or numerical evaluation based on some fatigue relevant information such as rainflow cycles or range pair spectra.
