This chapter explores how to enhance physical layer security (PLS) of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)‐based communications networks. First, it briefly looks at possible security attacks on wireless networks, which is followed by describing the wireless network security requirements. The chapter subsequently discusses the importance of PLS for wireless networks, and presents some interesting PLS techniques from the existing literature. After describing the ways to achieve secure wireless communications in general, it focuses on UAV‐based wireless networks. Security breaches in a wireless network are the result of either active or passive attack. The chapter explains in detail some interesting PLS techniques proposed for enhancing security. Further, it discusses a case study where a UAV equipped with a base station is deployed to provide broadband connectivity over a densely packed user area, which well represents most of the temporary events (e.g., a football match in a stadium).
