This chapter introduces state feedback control for disturbance rejection and reference tracking through controller design. It deals with embedding the disturbance model into the plant model to form an augmented state space model for the controller design. The chapter discusses three practical aspects of the control system. The first aspect is to introduce the two‐degree‐of‐freedom control configuration for reducing overshoot in reference tracking. The second aspect is to present an anti‐windup mechanism for the controller implementation, and the third aspect is to propose the control system without utilization of an observer when a transfer function model is given. The chapter introduces the repetitive control systems as an extension of the state feedback control systems designed. The repetitive control systems have the capability for reference tracking and disturbance rejection of complex periodic exogenous signals.
