Compared with light‐duty electric vehicles and special vehicles, comprehensive functions are required for the battery management system in the application of new energy vehicles. For example, for the minibus, the battery management system not only monitors and controls relevant features of the cells, but also provides an optimization strategy for the energy output and input of the whole bus. It is required to regularly maintain the battery pack in order to ensure normal use of the electric vehicle for a long time. Battery safety is a primary problem for normal use of the new energy vehicles. Therefore, the safety protection of the battery management system is the most important thing in battery management. Over‐current protection means that the safety protection measure must be taken if the operating current exceeds the safety range of the battery during charging and discharging.
