With increasing complexity of supply chains and increasing digitalization in vehicle systems using consumer electronic components, obsolescence becomes one of the greatest challenges for products with longer lifetime. Product Change and Discontinuation Notices (PCN/PDN) are used to communicate changes and discontinuations. However the major part of PCN/PDN needs to be processed manually by reading and copy/paste the data. With smartPCN, standardized in VDMA 24903 and in progress to become an IEC standard, the digital processing of PCN/PDN is made easy, enabling a fully digitized obsolescence management that saves costs and time and increases quality and security.
