In this paper we describe OpenDS, a cross-platform, open-source driving simulation software for research. OpenDS is based on open-source components and has been released under open-source license in January 2013. The development of the software is fostered by the EU-project GetHomeSafe. Furthermore, OpenDS receives additional funding for a requirement analysis and its distribution through the Intelligent Mobility and Transportation Systems action line of EIT ICT Labs. Commercial service and support is provided by the start-up company white_c.
