Selection of input parameters for the FRESIM freeway traffic simulator is addressed. Methods are presented for calibrating key parameters to achieve desired freeway capacities during incident and incident-free simulation runs. The impacts of these parameters on freeway capacity are explored through systematic variation of the parameters for selected traffic scenarios.
