This article documents part of an extensive, phase-zero corrosion test of automotive trim materials (stainless steel, stainless steel/polyvinyl chloride bilaminates, nickel/chrome-plated stainless steel, and bimetal) and vehicle body panel materials (cold-rolled steel, electrogalvanized steel, and aluminum) mounted together as trim systems. The systems were measured against each other after 5 and 10 test years of corrosion exposure to give guidance to design and manufacturing.
