The U.S. Navy has investigated and implemented design improvements for shipboard impressed current cathodic protection systems. Laboratory scale model testing was used to achieve an improved, two-zone system design. The redesigned system was installed aboard a test ship and data were gathered during sea trials to assess performance. Data acquired shipboard were correlated to laboratory work to assess to accuracy of the scale model design technique.
