In the light of increased manufacturing costs for aerospace components and assemblies, methods of removing worn or damaged turbine blade coatings to allow recoating of the original component are assuming ever greater importance. In this contribution case studies are presented describing the development and refining of procedures for the selective chemical/electrochemical stripping of aluminised and PVD MCrAlY coatings from turbine blades. The disassembly of joints by selective stripping of braze filler material is also considered.
