An outline of development of ferrous sintered parts in Japan is reviewed. After World War II, small scale production of ferrous sintered parts was started. The production has steeply increased with the motorization age in 1965. Various new technologies were developed to improve the properties and the productivity of sintered parts. Recently applications of some new powder metallurgy techniques are being marked because of its future economy and market potential.
