The Institute of Metal Finishing Medland Branch held a one day symposium and exhibition on zinc alloy electrodeposits at Aston University, Birmingham on 19 October 1988. One hundred and thirty people attended, from Australia, Belgium, France, the FRG, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. The following subjects for instance have been dealt with: Zinc alloy electrodeposits to combat corrosion of automobiles (S.A. Watson, Nickel Development Institute, Birmingham), Characteristics of Durasteel and its application on passenger vehicles (Masao Shiokawa, Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd.), Zinc-cobalt alloy plating from an alkaline non-cyanide electrolyte (W. Canning Materials Ltd.), A new process for the electrolytic deposition of zinc-nickel alloy (M. Schloetter), Practical production zinc-cobalt alloy plating (R. Whittaker, Rolls-Royce Motors Ltd.), Electrochemical investigations on zinc alloy coatings (N. Short), Phosphating of zinc and zinc alloy electroplated steel (B. Freeman, Ardox Pyrene Ltd.), Black conversion coatings on zinc-cobalt deposits (A. Shears, OMI International (GB) Ltd.).
