Mechanical components in motor vehicles are increasingly being replaced by their electronic counterparts. With the introduction of the electronic dashboard, the mileage counter function will also be required in electronic form. It will, however, be necessary to ensure that the current mileage is not forgotten in the event of a failure in the supply voltage. The optimal solution here is a nonvolatile EEPROM-type memory.
