The use of polyester mooring systems has been growing over the past few years owing to some improved safety features. The risks involved in using this emerging technology has been moderated by ongoing industry testing and experience gained with permanent floating production systems and mild environments. A specific example is the mooring system developed by Aker for its fifth generation H4.3 MODU currently under design. The moorings have been designed in accordance with DnV POSMOOR V rules.
