Initial investigations revealed that corrosion brought about the failure of reinforced concrete pipelines from the Rio Colorado-Tijuana Aqueduct (RCTA) in Mexico. The main problem occurred in the zone of conduction by gravity, where no cathodic protection (CP) was installed. Careful testing was carried out to determine the causes of the problem and possible solutions. Based on the obtained data, it was recommended that the life of the pipeline can be increased by using impressed current CP.
