The importance of psychophysical conditions of the engine driver, especially in a high speed train, is unanimously recognised both in a normal situation and in emergency. The rapid technological development in recent decades has put the stress on the need of considering human factor in the first step of the project; the analytical approach allows to develop methodologies to evaluate the operator's reliability. Probability of human error (HEP) is defined and the methods for its calculation are described. The authors show two analysis methods.
