Yoshimura, one of the authors, have developed a new method for correcting railway track irregularity using heavy tamping machines. This method is more effective and efficient than conventional correcting methods. It requires somewhat complicated calculation, however. So in order to put this method into practice in the filed, we have developed an interactive calculation software. In the present paper, we describe the theory of calculating an optimum controlling data for a heavy tamping machine and features of the software.
