The shift to 'simpler' packaged compressors combined with the reduction of design engineering staff at owner companies has led to incorrectly specified acoustical/mechanical studies in many cases. This paper explains the purpose and value of each component of a complete acoustical/mechanical analysis. In addition, specific guidelines are developed defining which analysis components should be performed for a particular compressor installation.
