Schlumberger Geco-Prakla has built a new generation seismic exploration vessel, called Geco Eagle, in cooperation with Mjellem & Karlsen of Bergen, Norway. At 10,600 grt, the Geco Eagle is the world's largest seismic exploration vessel. The vessel is equipped with 20 towing points and, with a back deck width of 37 m, is able to deploy over 100 km of streamer. With 80% more storage capacity than the current big boats, Geco Eagle can hold all the equipment necessary to offer a survey footprint of more than 11 km2. In addition, the Geco Eagle's versatile towing system provides cost-effective solutions for all marine 3D seismic applications, including the demand for longer streamers and the need for wider tows in exploration 3D.
