Risk-Informed Inservice Inspection (RI-ISI) programs for piping are being developed with expedited implementation expected in the nuclear industry. Use of these programs will create a unique challenge in addressing the activities of corrective action, feedback, and updating of these programs. Events that have effects on these programs include, but are not limited to the disposition of examination results, discovery of new failure mechanisms within the industry, operational procedure changes, and actual plant design changes. Since the rules and guidelines for addressing these activities have been described only in broad terms by both the ASME and the Regulatory Authorities, a need exists for details. It will be up to each individual plant to have a process in place that describes the specifies necessary to make the application of these activities support a living RI-ISI program. This paper describes a process that can be used by plant personnel to address corrective action, feedback, and RI-ISI program updates that are both event driven and programmatically prudent. The major roles and responsibilities for the required personnel in the fields of Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Piping Stress Analysis, and ISI Engineering are described in the process. Examples are provided to explain how each activity is addressed along with the necessary actions. The paper concludes that as with any RI-ISI program activity the final acceptable closure to the process is completed by an expert panel review.
