An experimental and theoretical study on the pressure loss of perforated pipes has been carried out. The aim was to establish an experimental methodology to obtain relevant parameters which account for the influence of a perforated pipe in the pressure loss of a given system. An incompressible and isothermal one dimensional model of the flow distribution in a perforated pipe was developed. The pressure loss coefficient of a perforated pipe in flow conditions was computed. The comparison of the calculated and measured results indicates that this effective coefficient seems to be a characteristic of the perforated pipe alone, and thus independent on the particular flow conditions.
