A new visual measurement system is being developed that makes it easy to measure overall luminance in the field of vision. The system involves the use of digital still camera to photograph the drivers field of vision, then convert the image data to luminance on computer. The system has several principle features as follows: quick and efficient measuring; measurement of luminous intensity distribution over the full field of vision; measurement of objects with a small angle of vision; ease of operation and mobility.
