A Motorway headlamp able to vary its photometric characteristics with speed is under development. The headlamp should reduce the aiming angle and the width of the beam as the vehicles speed increases. The result will be improved driving, safety and comfort. An improvement of photometric characteristics and optimization of the beam pattern is also needed. Several numerical simulations, laboratory and road tests are being performed to identify the best strategy to achieve the proposed goals.
