More than a decade since the completion of Statoil's first subsea production wells on the Gullfaks field in the Norwegian North Sea, further development is now underway which will include the installation of eight seabed templates with 31 slots and substantial modification of Gullfaks A. Two heated flowlines bundles will be connected together to carry wellstreams between Gullfaks South and Gullfaks A. On Gullveig, Statoil will be using a pipe-in-pipe solution reeled onto a drum and spooled out on the field. Being developed faster and much cheaper than comparable previous projects, the Gullfaks satellite project is expected to make important contribution to continued profitable operation of the main field. Production is set for October 1998.
