Author investigates the relation between driver fatality rates and driver age and sex. He demonstrates that the fatality rate per 100 million vehicle miles traveled is maximum for very young and old people. The fatality rate for teenage drivers is about four times higher than the rate for drivers 25 to 65. Possible methods to prevent highway accidents are discussed.
