A finite element analysis procedure was used to determine the capacity of the hull of an Auger tension leg platform (TLP) to resist lateral-torsional buckling under hydrostatic pressure. The modelled hull structure was stiffened by either circumferential rings and stringers or circumferential rings only. The analysis incorporated fabrication tolerances for out-of-roundness, axial offset, and web tilt of the circumferential stiffening rings.
