To evaluate state variables for lateral stability control vehicle parameters are needed. For passenger cars they will be obtained by measurements. This method is not practicable for heavy trucks, weight differences between unloaded and loaded states are significant. Additionally, the vehicles of a truck series are built in different manners (wheelbase, number of axis). In this paper a method is presented to evaluate the necessary parameters by online measurements. Steering angle and yaw velocity is measured continously and - under dynamical conditions in the linear domain of lateral movement - the parameters are computed. The method was tested under simulated conditions. Further development in practical applications should be pursued. Besides practical aspects such as filtering and average value compensation, partial identification under stationary driving conditions should be possible.
