The proposed computer-based strategy to improve structural dynamic behaviour is founded on the analysis, rating and optimization of enforced vibrations in the perceptible frequency range. The customer relevant transfer functions are weighted with measured engine excitations and chassis excitations, where the incoherent character of the forces is treated via principal component transformations. While the consideration of the enforced vibration behaviour can be viewed as a second step in concurrent engineering, the first step deals with a spectral positioning of dominant (full vehicle-) eigenmodes. Based on a weighted-average scheme, frequency ranges related to high excitations will be seperated from the main transfer frequencies to achieve a dynamically robust behaviour.
