A MADYMO side impact model which is used at Lotus Engineering during the concept phase to investigate the side impact performance of a two seater sports car and make predictions of the expected injury levels is presented here. Modelling techniques explaining the set-up of the model are discussed in the second part. The use of the model as well as some results and its correlation with test data are shown in the third chapter. Finally conclusions are drawn comparing this computer model with other side impact models and showing its limitations and benefits.
