The direct displacement analysis of a Stewart platform mechanism with octahedral arrangement is presented in this paper. In order to obtain the solutions quickly and efficiently, a simple but cost-effective technique which is based upon the Newton-Raphson's method is proposed instead of the conventional closed-form formulation. Numerical results have shown that the present computational efforts are far less compared with earlier works, and the solutions could be obtained requiring just a few iteration steps.
