Service towards the customer is a keyword in modem society. A rapidly growing market with high potential are services in the traffic and mobility sector. In order to open up the market for these services, it is necessary to provide an infrastructure which offers means to use services to their full capacity. The nature of possible types of infrastructure for use with mobility services is widespread, reaching from infrastructure for information gathering and information processing to infrastructure for information distribution. Advanced Mobility Management relies entirely on its underlying infrastructure. It is only possible to offer mobility services to the customer in a satisfactory, efficient and reliable manner with a functional and functioning infrastructure. For designing such infrastructure, a fundamental model is necessary. By means of this model infrastructure evaluation is possible. Described in this paper are methods to obtain such an infrastructure model. An analysis of today's and tomorrow's infrastructure indicates the combination and communication between infrastructure parts. Examples of infrastructure elements are: networks, client-server technologies, wireless communication (GSM, Last Mile Access, Pager), mobile computing (PDA, HPC), positioning (GPS, GLONASS). Based on Advanced Mobility Management Infrastructure, new and innovative mobility services can be developed and can be offered to customers. The context of these services, most notably customers and service providers, must be included into the research to obtain a complete model of mobility infrastructure. Customers are to be viewed as end users of the infrastructure while service providers are considered in their position as infrastructure owners and those who run the infrastructure.
