Driving Simulators involve the capability of simulating critical and dangerous driving situations up to the limits of active safety. They are employed for investigating the interactions of the driver-vehicle system under reproduceable and non-dangerous conditions. Because of their flexibility and reproducibility they are well established in scientific research and will be furtheron established in driving schools. Driving simulators are mostly used when the real vehicle is much more expensive than the simulator-by example in education of pilots or tank drivers. However, due to the decrease of computer hardware prices and to the reason of noise and environmental pollution, the German Army intends to use driving simulators for drivers training. In the Army not only normal road conditions but also off-road conditions are of interest. Offroad driving simulators are therefore useful for training and for virtual vehicle testing in any terrain and will help to avoid damages in nature. This paper deals with the requirements for a moving-base system for an off-road driving simulator. Tests were run with ORIS to know the values of acceleration, pitch and roll which are necessary in order to concive a moving base system for driving simulators.
