In attempt to fully automatize the transportation works in greenhouses, the authors developed a prototype of a railless-unmanned transport vehicle which traveled along ridged furrows in the greenhouse. The vehicle is equipped with the steering system of mechanical heading control, spin turn mechanism, which allows turning with minimum space, and microcomputer control unit for autonomous traveling. The results of row spacing traveling test showed that the convergence distance of the vehicle while running on a ridge side angle of 40 deg was about 3 m at an approach angle of 12 deg, and the power requirement for transporting the maximum load of 130 kg was 115 W at the speed of 34 cm/sec, and about nine hours operation was possible with standard load of 52 kg.
