For the ever shorter time intervals of changing conditions in the shipping industry and the increasing technical demands on the design of the propulsion system, a good partnership between operator and engine manufacturer is the best of all alternatives. To guarantee a world-wide, safe and economical maintenance to a ship and its propulsion system the partnership must be based on common understanding and competent partners. The target for the future partnership is not only limited to the maintenance and repair of machinery components but to be in good command of the propulsion system. To fulfil this task not only engines and plants have to be looked after but also the people involved and their working relationship.
