An approach for the numerical simulation of the aeroelastic behaviour of a helicopter rotor in forward flight is presented. For this purpose a structural dynamic model of the blade, STAN, is coupled with a three-dimensional finite volume Euler solver for unsteady compressible flows, INROT. The solution of the coupled system is found by the use of staggered time-marching procedures. Two fundamentally different coupling schemes are investigated. The validation of the developed method is done on a BO-105 model rotor investigated at the DNW (Duits Nederlandse Windtunnel = German Dutch Windtunnel) within the framework of the HELINOISE research project.
